Moving on out!!!

Well, The General is still hanging in there! But she's about had enough and I think they finally listened. LOL. Hallelujah she is now WIRELESS! Chest tube came out today and Aunt Linda said she did great. She was very nervous about it, but its done! Best news with that is, she should get to COME HOME TOMORROW!!! Praise God! Worked out perfect because tonight is last night that Linda's hotel has anything available. God is good!

She had company today. Liz came to visit and she was so glad to see her. As much as she loves Linda, I am sure she is excited to see any other familiar face. LOL. Sure Linda is as well.

In meantime, she got to finally put her pjs on(even though she rocked that hospital gown) and head out of the room! Of course, where do you think she headed? Gift shop! :-)

Here are a couple pics they sent me today. Still looking better than half of us who aren't 72 and just had lung surgery. She is my hero for so many reasons and how she kicked cancer's ass is now just added to the list:)

Cant wait for them to get home. Sure wish it was today so there would be a possibility for Tuesday lunch. But will wait til next week. Thank you all for your continued words of encouragement and your prayers. They have definitely helped her(and us) get through a tough week!

Another Day in "Paradise"

Still hanging in there! Queen of Dunn Tower is what we can re name her!

Dr Sweeney came in earlier and told her she is going great! There is just one small speed bump stopping her from coming home. There is a small air leak in chest tube and they cant take that out until that goes away. Nothing Dr's or she can do to speed that up. It's the way her lung was made when she was born, so we are blaming on our sweet Mimi(her mother lol) She is still feeling great! Also waiting on her to go to the bathroom:) She told the Dr. wine is the only thing that can make her do that. He told her go for it! Sooooo, Linda was off the Marriot across the street. For a $60 bottle of wine. Then to the gift shop for a $17 wine glass. We both said this better be the best trip to the bathroom ever! LOL

In the middle of me updating this, Linda texted me saying the epidural is out! One step closer to going home! Also, one more reason to have the wine on hand! Mary Lou + pain = Bitch Mode :)

Whoop whoop!

Just like I sent her in the very beginning,

Picture perfect

Now THIS is what The General looks like 2 days after lung surgery. One. Tough. Cookie! Got up and walked and actually had real food for lunch. Hadn't taken epidural out last I heard but supposed to today. Just wanted y'all to see she's looking better every day.

Keep prayers coming!

Moving on up

Sorry for the late post. Aunt Barbara and I left around 2 pm. Dropped her at Aunt Linda's and then went to Iowa for 2 basketball games. Just getting home.

Linda went in for 4 am visit. She was wide awake. Hadn't slept a bit. But felt fine. Numbers still all good! Made friends with all her nurses. We went in for the 10 am visit and still awake and feeling good. They had even taken her little oxygen out of her nose. Numbers still great! While we there they took the IV out of her neck. Said the Dr had come in earlier and told her she was doing great and should move to regular room today. Had a really good visit and she insisted Barbara and I headed home. She is the General and the last time I talked back she threatened to take me out the will πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

After we reluctantly headed out Linda let us know she was moved to regular room!!  Said she walked from bed to wheelchair and then from wheelchair to bed upstairs. Whoop whoop! Said tomorrow epidural and catheter will come out. Please pray that she doesn't have too much pain after that wears off. They will be getting her up 4 times a day. Only issue so far is little nausea.

Post more tomorrow evening😊

Whoooo what a long day! Aunt Barbara and I just made it back to the room. Aunt Linda has her little recliner at the hospital and will spend the night there. We will go back for 10am visit and give Linda break to come back and shower.

Mary lou is doing so good! We have had two visits with her and she looks and sounds better each time. Her BP is better and they have taken a lot of her "wires" out already. Nurse seems to think she will move to regular room tomorrow πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»  She is her old self, barking orders at us, drilling the new nurse(age, married, graduate from? Etc). Sound fimiliar to any of my cousins and wives? Lol. We laughed and laughed at last visit. So good to see.

Hope to see Dr in morning. Will post more then

Continue to pray that we can move her to room then home soon😊😊

Visit

just went back to see her. She's still groggy but doing good. Blood pressure was 138/80, pulse 72 and oxygen level 100%. Breathing tube was already out so that's all on her own. You will all be happy to she is back to barking orders. The General is back people!! The girls are bringing Payton home. He told her to hurry and get home. We will get to go back at 4. About to take Aunt Linda on hospital tour so she won't get lost after we leave. Lol. She will spend the night here in waiting room and has already put a stake in her recliner! That's what sisters are for.

Surgery over!

Well the General has prevailed. (Like we ever thought she wouldn'tπŸ˜‘πŸ˜‘) We met with Dr Sweeney after surgery and he said it went very well. Said he had to take out a little more than expected but he wasn't worried at all. Said he wanted to make sure he got it all out and he did!! Praise God. He did say he was looking at lymph nodes also. All preliminary tests on the lymph nodes were clear! They still have to be sent off but he's confident they will come back clear. He thinks she will be in ICU tonight and most of tomorrow. Then to regular room for about 5 days. We should get to see her in about 15 minutes. Will report on her after visit. Maybe even with a pic!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

PS the last thing the Dr said as we were walking out was GEAUX TIGERSπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ. How could we not like him
Good morning from Methodist Hospital CVICU waiting room. We got here about 645 this morning. Got checked in and they whisked her away pretty quickly. The nurse just came out with update. Said all is going well. Haven't gotten the lobe out yet but are working on it. Should be another hour.

Celeste and Louise brought Payton last night so they are all here with us.

Thanks for your continued prayers. Will update when we have more news.

Meeting with Dr Sweeney

Today we met with Dr Michael Sweeney in Houston. First let me say we were very very impressed and encouraged with the visit. He was wonderful at explaining everything in lamen terms and took his time doing it. Also answered all our questions. And we had a few.

Plan is she will have surgery Monday morning (18th) at around 730 at Methodist Hospital in Houston. He explained that where the mass is(top right corner of lobe) she is a great candidate for surgery. Said he should be able to remove ALL the cancer and hopefully there will be no chemo or radiation. We won't know for sure until after surgery, but he did mention the word cured many times. Praise the Lord.  Said the surgery should only take about an hour and after that she will go to ICU for a day or two. Then in hospital for 6 days or less.

Please continue to keep praying. We will come back Sunday evening and I will update again Monday morning.

Thanks. Leslie

Welcome to our Village

hey everyone. As you know Mary Lou aka "The General" is in process of kicking cancer straight in the teeth! She has so many people that know and love her so we wanted a central place for everyone to be able to keep up with the process. We will try and update it often.

She had a consultation in Houston today with Michael Sweeney. He is a Cardiothorassic surgeon. She brought all of her records from pet scan, biopsy and colonoscopy so he will have as much info as possible to tell her what steps are next.

Please keep her in your prayers. And feel free to comment and send her love(I will show her how to read them at Tuesday lunch☺️☺️)

Will update later after dr appt is done.

Thanks and love to all!!

Leslie.
